Managing directors and decision makers from 12 business in the industrial sector of the region and representatives from the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg Chamber of Industry and Commerce came together at the invitation of Business Development and GKN Sinter Metals to discuss a range of current topics relating to additive manufacturing processes and Industry 4.0. Ideas and experiences were exchanged, and the opportunity was given to visit GKN’s production facilities.

This event marks the prelude to a network of manufacturing companies working together in dialogue with Business Development to identify and develop common fields.

Guido Degen, SVP Business Development & Advanced Technology, GKN Powder Metallurgy, commented: “As manufacturing companies, firstly we can learn a great deal from one other, and secondly, the network allows us to promote current issues, such as the digitization of the city of Bonn, in a much stronger way. We are pleased to have secured the city as a partner for this idea.”

Victoria Appelbe, the Head of Bonn Business Development, emphasised that Bonn should not only be seen as a service location. “It is important that the city of Bonn also stands for the production of material goods, as well as providing services, so that the economic structure is balanced and jobs are also readily available in manufacturing“ explained Appelbe.
